The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

The University of Tennessee is an SEC Division I state flagship, land-grant institution, home to over 29,000 Vols that hail from 46 states and 26 countries.. Our home is downtown Knoxville, as our front yard and the Tennessee River and the nation’s most visited national park, the Great Smoky Mountains, as our backyard.
UT is home to nine undergraduate colleges and four unique honors programs. Our most acclaimed disciplines are Metallurgical, Aerospace and Nuclear engineering, Supply Chain Management, Architecture, Forensic Science and the Anthropology Research facility aka the Body Farm.
In Admissions we use a holistic approach in our evaluation of your student’s applications. Students can apply via our VIP portal or CommonApp. The middle 50% of this year’s freshman class possessed ACT scores between 24-31 and SAT scores between 1210-1370 with a core weighted GPA between 3.6-4.3.
We offer two merit-based scholarship programs, the Volunteer Scholarship and Tennessee Explore, to all students who apply by December 15th of their senior year and are admitted with a minimum core gpa beginning 3.6 and ACT superscore of 24 (SAT 1160). The levels begin at $4,000, increasing to $18,000 if a higher core gpa and test scores are achieved.
Being a Vol is more than a nickname, but rather our identity, who we are, what we do, and how we do it. Volunteers whether locally, nationally or globally serve and shape communities. We are The University of Tennessee.
